REPLACEMENT (To 08/2009): Replacement

  1. PRECAUTION (w/ Air Suspension) 
    NOTE:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing. Refer to PRECAUTION .

  2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  3. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, clip and front fender apron sub-assembly LH.
  4. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID 
    1. Remove the refill plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle.

    2. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the overflow plug and gasket from the automatic transaxle.

    3. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, remove the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube from the automatic transaxle.

    4. Drain automatic transaxle fluid from the automatic transaxle.
    5. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the No. 1 transmission oil filler tube to the automatic transaxle.

      Torque: 1.7 N*m (17 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf) 

    6. Using a 6 mm hexagon socket wrench, install a new gasket and the overflow plug to the automatic transaxle.

      Torque: 40 N*m (408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf) 

    7. Temporarily install the gasket and the refill plug to the automatic transaxle.

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  6. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  7. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  8. SEPARATE TIE ROD ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  9. SEPARATE NO. 1 FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9
  10. SEPARATE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  11. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 12
  12. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL 
    1. Using SST, tap out the transaxle case oil seal.

      • SST: 09308-00010 
  13. INSTALL TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL 
    1. Using SST and a hammer, tap in a new transaxle case oil seal.

      • SST: 09316-10010 
      • SST: 09950-70010 
        • 09951-07100

      Oil seal driven in depth

      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      NOTE:

      Check that the oil seal is installed in the correct direction.

    2. Coat the lip of the transaxle case oil seal with MP grease.
  14. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  15. INSTALL NO. 1 FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  16. INSTALL TIE ROD ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  17. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 8
  18. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 10
  19. INSTALL FRONT AXLE SHAFT NUT  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  20. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL 
  21. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID 

    HINT: 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT .

  22. INSPECT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID LEAK 
  23. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Install the front fender apron sub-assembly LH with the 2 bolts and clip.
  24. ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT 

    HINT: 

    Refer to ADJUSTMENT .

  25. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL 

    HINT: 

    Refer to TEST MODE PROCEDURE .
