Brake Master Cylinder: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (See AIRBAG SYSTEM ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  3. REMOVE ABS MOTOR RELAY 
    1. In order to prohibit brake control, remove the 2 ABS motor relays with the ignition switch off.
    NOTE: If the pump motor operates while air remains inside the brake actuator hose, the air will enter the actuator, resulting in difficulty in bleeding the brakes.

  4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH 
  7. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH 
  8. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTER  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE RESERVOIR TUBE NO.1 
    1. Remove the nut.

    2. Remove the clip, and separate the reservoir tube No.1.
  12. REMOVE RESERVOIR TUBE NO.2 
    1. Remove the clip, and separate the reservoir tube No.2.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER  (See REMOVAL )
  16. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  17. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING 
  18. SEPARATE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS  (See REMOVAL )
  19. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER W/ SIMULATOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Using SST, disconnect the 2 brake tubes.

      SST 09023-00101

    2. Disconnect the connector, and separate the wire harness clamp.

    3. Remove the 4 nuts, the gasket and the brake master cylinder with simulator.
