Brake Pedal: Removal

  1. PRECAUTION 
    CAUTION: Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (See PRECAUTION ).
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING 
  10. SEPARATE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS 
    1. Remove the clip and clevis pin and disconnect the push rod clevis from the brake pedal.
  11. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the stop light switch.
    2. Disconnect the connector from the pedal stroke sensor.
    3. Remove the bolt.

    4. Remove the 4 nuts and the brake pedal support assembly.
