Hood Lock Control Cable Assembly: Removal

  1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  2. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE PROTECTOR  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System)  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE LOW PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 screws.
    2. Disengage the clamp and remove the hood lock control cable cover

  9. REMOVE HOOD LOCK NUT CAP 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the hood lock nut cap as shown in the illustration.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use

  10. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and hood lock nut.

    2. Disconnect the hood lock control cable assembly.
    3. Disconnect the connector and remove the hood lock assembly

  11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  13. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL  (See REMOVAL )
  14. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws.
    2. Disconnect the hood lock control cable and remove the hood lock control lever

  16. REMOVE HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Tie a string to the end of the hood lock control cable assembly as shown in the illustration
      PART REFERENCE CHART

      Area Part Name
      A Hood lock control cable
      B Parking brake cable
      C Parking brake pedal
      NOTE: Use a length of string long enough to pass through the engine compartment.

    2. Disengage the clamp and remove the hood lock control cable assembly as shown in the illustration
