Section 4 (Cooling (3UZ-FE)): Radiator: Installation

  1. INSTALL RADIATOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the 2 radiator support cushions and 2 radiator lower supports to the radiator.

    2. Install the fan to the radiator, and attach the 3 claws.

    3. Install the radiator and attach the ECM outlet duct.

    4. Align the radiator with the condenser. Then install the radiator with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT SUB-ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  3. INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  4. INSTALL HOOD LOCK CONTROL CABLE COVER (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  5. INSTALL RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  6. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  7. CONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE 
    1. Connect the outlet tube.
    2. Attach the tube to the radiator's clamp.

  8. CONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET TUBE 
    1. Connect the inlet tube.

  9. CONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET 
    1. Connect the hose outlet.

      HINT:

      • Face the clamp's claw toward the bottom of the vehicle.
      • Make sure the clearance between the clamp edge and radiator hose edge (labeled A) is between 1 to 5 mm (0.039 to 0.197 in.).
      • Insert the hose until it contacts the radiator. Make sure the clearance between the hose and radiator (labeled B) is between 0 to 2.5 mm (0 to 0.098 in.).

  10. CONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET 
    1. Connect the hose inlet.

  11. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (See  COOLANT  ) 
  12. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS 
    1. Check for engine coolant leaks (see COOLING SYSTEM ).
  13. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  14. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET 
    1. Install the inlet with the bolt.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

  15. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the cover with the 2 nuts.

      Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

  16. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  17. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  18. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  19. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  20. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  21. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization procedure (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
