Converter, Catalytic: Removal

  1. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the pressurized coolant bottle. Refer to BOTTLE, PRESSURIZED COOLANT, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the upstream and downstream oxygen sensor. Refer to SENSOR, OXYGEN, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the bolts (1) and the catalytic converter heat shield (2).
  5. Remove the EGR tube. Refer to TUBE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL .

  6. Remove and discard the bolts (1) and the nuts (3) securing the catalytic converter (2) to the turbocharger.
  7. Remove the cross under pipe. Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST CROSSUNDER, REMOVAL .

  8. Remove the six bolts (1) and the catalytic converter support bracket (2).
  9. Remove the catalytic converter (2) from the bottom of the vehicle.

  10. Remove and discard the gasket (1).
