Engine And DDCT - Fwd

REMOVAL 

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Perform the fuel pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE .
  3. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the front wheels. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Remove the front wheel splash shields. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  7. Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
  8. Remove the battery and battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  9. Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER SERVICE .
  10. Drain the engine coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 1.3L .
  11. Recover the A/C refrigerant. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  12. Remove the left and right halfshafts. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  13. Remove the headlamp mounting crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, HEADLAMP MOUNTING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  14. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .

  15. Loosen the exhaust pipe support bracket bolts (1).
  16. Loosen the exhaust pipe collar connecting nut (2).

  17. Disconnect the dual clutch gearbox electric pump wire harness connector (1) and release the wiring from the bracket on the transmission.

  18. Disconnect the upper oxygen sensor wire harness connector (1).
  19. Disconnect the lower oxygen sensor wire harness connector (2).

  20. Release the wiring from the retaining clips on the bracket (1).

  21. Disconnect the gear selection/engagement control activation unit solenoid valve wire harness connector (1).
  22. Disconnect the gear engagement/release control activation unit sensor wire harness connector (2).

  23. Remove the exhaust pipe support bracket bolt (1) from the engine oil pan.
  24. Remove the nuts (2) and remove the exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter and the front exhaust silencer.
  25. Remove the gasket.

  26. Position a suitable hydraulic lift underneath the gearbox unit.
  27. Remove the rear isolator to transmission bracket bolt (1).
  28. Remove the bolts and the transmission bracket (2).
  29. Remove the bolt and the rear isolator (3) from the front crossmember.

  30. Disconnect the front coolant return pipe quick coupling (1) from the evaporator.

  31. Disconnect the front fuel vapor pipe quick coupling (1).
  32. Disconnect the fuel manifold supply pipe quick coupling (2).
  33. Open the clips (3) retaining the pipes previously disconnected.

  34. Disconnect the brake servo vacuum sensor wire harness connector (1).

  35. Open the retaining clip (1a) and remove the brake servo vacuum sensor (1b).

  36. Disconnect the injection control unit wire harness connector (1).
  37. Disconnect the engine wire harness in-line connector (2).
  38. Open the retaining clips (3) and release the wiring.

  39. Disconnect the quick couplings (1) and remove the supply and return hoses from the heater core.

  40. Disconnect the "Park" engagement cable from the control lever (1).
  41. Move back the sliding clip (2) and release the "Park" engagement cable from the reaction bracket.

  42. Remove the bolt (1a) and the engine mount bracket (1b).

  43. Remove the bolt (1) and the battery ground cable.

  44. Install a lifting bracket under the right engine mount bolt (1).

  47. Support the power unit using a hydraulic hoist and the 1871001700 load-leveling lifting sling (1) connected to the engine lifting brackets.

  48. Remove the bolts (1a), (1b) and the left engine mount isolator (1c).

  49. Remove the bolts (1) from the right engine mount isolator.
  50. Remove the powertrain from the engine compartment and position it on a suitable platform.

INSTALLATION 

  1. Install the powertrain in the engine compartment using a hydraulic crane and the 1871001700 load-leveling lifting sling connected to the engine lifting brackets.

  2. Install the right engine mount isolator to bracket bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  3. Install the left engine mount isolator (1a) and tighten the isolator to frame rail bolts (1b) and isolator to transmission bracket bolts (1c) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  4. Remove the hydraulic crane and sling connected to the engine lifting brackets.
  5. Remove the engine lifting brackets and reinstall the bolts.
  6. Install the battery ground cable and securely tighten the bolt.
  7. Install the engine mount bracket and securely tighten the bolt.
  8. Engage the gear selector cable to the lever arm.
  9. Engage the gear selection and engagement cable locking slider to the reaction bracket.
  10. Connect the heater core supply and return hose quick couplings.
  11. Connect the injection control unit wire harness connector.
  12. Connect the engine wire harness in-line connector.
  13. Close the wiring retaining clips.
  14. Install the brake servo vacuum sensor and close the retaining clip.
  15. Connect the brake servo vacuum sensor wire harness connector.
  16. Connect the fuel manifold supply pipe quick coupling.
  17. Connect the front fuel vapor pipe quick coupling.
  18. Close the clips retaining the previously connected pipes.
  19. Connect the front coolant return pipe to the evaporator quick coupling.

  20. Install the rear isolator (1) to the front crossmember and tighten the bolt (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  21. Install the rear engine mount bracket (2) and tighten the bolts (2) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  22. Install the rear engine mount isolator bolt (3) and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  23. Connect the exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter with a new gasket and tighten the new nuts (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  24. Install the exhaust pipe support bracket bolt (2) to the engine oil pan and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  25. Install the exhaust pipe and tighten the collar nut (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  26. Connect the gear engagement/release control activation unit sensor wire harness connector.
  27. Connect the gear selection/engagement control activation unit solenoid valve wire harness connector.
  28. Engage the wiring in the respective retaining clips on the bracket.
  29. Connect the lower oxygen sensor wire harness connector.
  30. Connect the upper oxygen sensor wire harness connector.
  31. Connect the dual clutch gearbox electric pump wire harness connector and engage the wiring to the bracket on the transmission.

  32. Tighten the exhaust pipe support bracket bolts (1) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  33. Tighten the central exhaust pipe fixing collar nut to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  34. Install the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
  35. Install the headlamp mounting crossmember. Refer to CROSSMEMBER, HEADLAMP MOUNTING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  36. Install the left and right halfshafts. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  37. Evacuate and charge the A/C refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  38. Fill the engine coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 1.3L .
  39. Fill the transmission. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER SERVICE .
  40. If removed, install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
  41. Install the battery tray and battery. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  42. Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
  43. Install the front wheel splash shields. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  44. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  45. Install the front wheels. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  46. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
