4 Wheel Drive: Installation

  1. Install the stabilizer bar. Refer to STABILIZER BAR, REAR SUSPENSION, INSTALLATION .
  2. Line up the rear crossmember assembly with the marks (1) made during removal.

  3. Tighten the bolts (1b) to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Remove the hydraulic lift complete with tools.

  5. Install the rear suspension control arms but do not tighten the fasteners at this time.
  6. Install the rear drive line module. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  7. Install the rear halfshafts. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  8. Connect the sway bar links (1) to the stabilizer bar and install a NEW  nut (2) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Install the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 1.3L or MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 2.4L .
  10. Install the rear wheels. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  12. Perform wheel alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
