Installation - Timing Belt Inner Cover

NOTE: Rotate crankshaft hub to 90 degrees ATDC, or the three O'clock position (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .

Install timing belt inner cover to engine front cover seal. See Fig 1.
Install timing belt inner cover to cylinder head cover gaskets. See Fig 1.
Install timing belt inner cover and retaining bolts. Torque 10 mm bolts to 47.1 N.m (35 ft. lbs.). and 8 mm bolts to 10.8 N.m. (96 in. lbs.). See Fig 1.
Install timing belt idler pulleys (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT IDLER PULLEY - INSTALLATION) .
Install camshaft sprockets. Hand tighten bolts.
Install timing belt and tensioner (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - INSTALLATION) .

Install special tool VM.1085 between camshaft gears and tighten thumb screws to engage and retain the camshaft gears. See Fig 2.
Tighten the camshaft gear bolts to 108 N.m (80 ft. lbs.) while holding the gears with special tool VM 1085. See Fig 2.
Install timing belt outer cover (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN COVER(S) - INSTALLATION) .
Install vibration damper (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - INSTALLATION) .
Install cooling fan support (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - INSTALLATION) .
Install accessory drive belt (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
Install cooling fan and fan drive viscous clutch assembly. Refer to RADIATOR - FAN - VISCOUS .
Install engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER .
Connect negative battery cable.
