Test 2A - Repairing No Response
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see Figure
.
NOTE:
Perform TEST 1A
before proceeding.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect VTA module. See Figure in TEST 1A and see VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, measure ground circuit resistance at terminals No. 11 and 19 (Black wire) of VTA module connector. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open in suspect circuit. Perform TEST VER-1A . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage at terminal No. 3 (White/Black wire) of VTA module connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 2B .
- Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage at terminal No. 20 (Light Green/Red wire) of VTA module connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to TEST 2C .
- Turn ignition off and disconnect DRB. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between CCD data link connector terminal No. 4 (Violet/Brown wire) and VTA module connector terminal No. 2 (Violet/Brown wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Brown wire circuit. Perform TEST VER-1A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between CCD data link connector terminal No. 3 (White/Gray wire) and VTA module connector terminal No. 1 (White/Gray wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Gray wire circuit. Perform TEST VER-1A . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace VTA module. Perform TEST VER-1A .
