Test 15B - Repairing Door Key Cylinder Circuit

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see Figure .
NOTE: Perform the following tests listed below before proceeding.
  1. Disconnect left front door key cylinder switch connector. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed. Using DRB, read door key cylinder switch status. If DRB does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace left front door key cylinder switch. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect liftgate key cylinder switch. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed and go to next step.
  2. Using DRB, read door key cylinder switch status. If DRB does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace liftgate key cylinder switch. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect right front door key cylinder switch. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed and go to next step.
  3. Using DRB, read door key cylinder switch status. If DRB does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace right front door key cylinder switch. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, disconnect Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module. See Figure in TEST 3A. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed and go to next step.
  4. Using DRB, read door key cylinder switch status. If DRB does not display CIRCUIT CLOSED, replace RKE module. Perform TEST VER-1A  . If DRB displays CIRCUIT CLOSED, ensure ignition is off and disconnect the VTA module. See Figure in TEST 1A. Also, refer to VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed and go to next step.
  5. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance at VTA module connector terminal No. 4 (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in disarm sense circuit (Violet/Yellow wire). Perform TEST VER-1A  . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace VTA module. See VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform TEST VER-1A  .
