Removal Procedure

- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the tire and the wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Pull down on the front park brake cable (3) and remove the front park brake cable (3) from the connector (1).
- Remove the park brake cable from the brake caliper lever.
- Remove the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (JL9) .
- Remove the rear brake caliper bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JL9) .
- Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9) .
- Turn the adjustment screw (1) to the fully home position in the notched adjustment nut.
- Remove the park brake shoe assembly by sliding the shoe (2) towards the retaining spring (3) until the shoe disengages from the spring.
