Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (J55)

Callout Component Name
CAUTION: Refer to Brake Dust Caution .
CAUTION: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution .

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the brake hose from the brake caliper. Refer to Front Brake Hose Replacement .
1 Guide Pin Bolt (Qty: 2)
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Tighten:  63 N.m (46 lb ft)

2 Brake Caliper
Tip: 
  • If removing the caliper to service the brake system, support the caliper with mechanics wire or a hook. DO NOT allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose.
  • Cap or plug the brake hose to prevent the brake system to become contaminated and brake fluid leakage.
  • Use a wheel nut to hold the rotor in place if removing the brake caliper.
  • Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) .
