Installation Procedure

- Clean the debris and the dust from the park brake components using a clean shop towel.
- Align the slots in both the adjusting screw and tappet to be parallel with the backing plate face.
- Position the park brake shoe (2) on the inboard side of the actuator (1).
- Slide the parking brake shoe into position and seat into the retaining spring (3).
- Inspect the shoe assembly position. The shoe must be central on the backing plate with both tips located in the slots.
- Adjust the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment (J55) .
- Install the brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9) .
- Install the rear brake caliper bracket. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Caliper Bracket Replacement (JL9) .
- Install the rear brake caliper. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Caliper Replacement (JL9) .
- Install the park brake cable to the park brake lever.
- Connect the front park brake cable (3) to the connector (1).
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Lower the vehicle.
