Removal and Installation: Removal

- Remove rear engine cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Drain ATF through drain plug.
- Remove exhaust front tube and center muffler with power tool. Refer to Exploded View (2.0L turbo gasoline engine) or Exploded View (VR30DDTT engine).
- Separate propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove control rod. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Support transmission assembly with a transmission jack.CAUTION: When setting transmission jack, be careful not to allow it to collide against the drain plug.
- Remove rear engine mounting member with power tool. Refer to Exploded View (2.0L turbo gasoline engine) or Exploded View (VR30DDTT engine).
- Remove rear engine mount. Refer to Exploded View (2.0L turbo gasoline engine) or Exploded View (VR30DDTT engine).
- Remove tightening bolts for rear extension assembly and transmission case.

- Tap rear extension assembly with a soft hammer (A).CAUTION: Be careful not to damage adapter case.
- Remove rear extension assembly (with needle bearing) from transmission case.
- Remove bearing race
from output shaft

- Remove output shaft
from transmission case by rotating left/right.
- Remove parking gear
from output shaft
.
- Remove seal rings
from output shaft.
- Remove needle bearing
from rear extension.
- Remove parking actuator support
from rear extension.
- Remove parking pawl (with return spring)
and pawl shaft
from rear extension.
- Remove return spring
from parking pawl
