Removal and Installation: Removal

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Infiniti Q50. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove rear engine cover. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  2. Drain ATF through drain plug.
  3. Remove exhaust front tube and center muffler with power tool. Refer to Exploded View (2.0L turbo gasoline engine) or Exploded View (VR30DDTT engine).
  4. Separate propeller shaft assembly. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  5. Remove control rod. Refer to Removal and Installation .
  6. Support transmission assembly with a transmission jack.
    CAUTION: When setting transmission jack, be careful not to allow it to collide against the drain plug.
  7. Remove rear engine mounting member with power tool. Refer to Exploded View (2.0L turbo gasoline engine) or Exploded View (VR30DDTT engine).
  8. Remove rear engine mount. Refer to Exploded View (2.0L turbo gasoline engine) or Exploded View (VR30DDTT engine).
  9. Remove tightening bolts for rear extension assembly and transmission case.

    : Bolt
  10. Tap rear extension assembly with a soft hammer (A).

    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage adapter case.
  11. Remove rear extension assembly (with needle bearing) from transmission case.

  12. Remove bearing race SYMBOL from output shaft SYMBOL .

  13. Remove output shaft SYMBOL from transmission case by rotating left/right.

  14. Remove parking gear SYMBOL from output shaft SYMBOL .

  15. Remove seal rings SYMBOL from output shaft.

  16. Remove needle bearing SYMBOL from rear extension.

  17. Remove parking actuator support SYMBOL from rear extension.

  18. Remove parking pawl (with return spring) SYMBOL and pawl shaft SYMBOL from rear extension.

  19. Remove return spring SYMBOL from parking pawl SYMBOL .
