NOTE: 

• Check the vehicle 12 volt battery condition first - Refer to:

• Set the fader and the balance positions to the center.

• Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

1. Problem verification

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 2. Make sure the volume is not set to the MIN level, and check for sound in all modes (AM/FM, USB, AUX, and CD).

   Is there sound in all modes, and is the sound normal?

   YES 

   Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.

   NO: No sound is heard in all modes

   The failure is duplicated in all modes, go to step 2.

   NO: No sound is heard in AM/FM mode

   AM/FM Radio Display Is Blank Or No Station Information Is Displayed (With Navigation) (2016 2017 2018) 

   NO: No sound is heard in USB mode

   USB Device Does Not Function (With Navigation, With Auto Idle Stop System) (2016 2017 2018) 

   USB Device Does Not Function (With Navigation, Without Auto Idle Stop System) (2016 2017 2018) 

   NO: No sound is heard in AUX mode

   Auxiliary Input Sound Is Low Or Cannot Be Heard (With Navigation) (2016 2017 2018) 

   NO: No sound is heard in CD mode

   Audio Disc Does Not Play 

2. Fuse check

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Check the following fuse.

   Fuse	No. A2-8 (30 A)
   Location	Under-hood fuse/relay box

   Is the fuse OK?

   YES 

   Go to step 3.

   NO 

   Replace the fuse, and recheck. If the fuse blows again, check for a short in the No. A2-8 (30 A) fuse circuit.

3. Open wire check (+B AUDIO AMP line)

   -1. Disconnect the following connector.

   Stereo amplifier connector A (18P)

   - 2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 3 - Refer to: Stereo Amplifier Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016) or Stereo Amplifier Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2017 2018) .
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   The +B AUDIO AMP wire is OK. Go to step 4.

   NO 

   Repair an open in the wire between the No. A2-8 (30 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and the stereo amplifier.

4. Open wire check (PGND line)

   -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
   Test point 1	Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 1 - Refer to: Stereo Amplifier Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016) or Stereo Amplifier Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2017 2018) .
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   The PGND wire is OK. Go to step 5.

   NO 

   Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between the stereo amplifier and body ground (G405)

5. Determine possible failure area (RADIO SW+B line, others)

   -1. Disconnect the following connector.

   Stereo amplifier connector B (28P)

   - 2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

   - 3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle ON mode
   	Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) disconnected
   Test point 1	Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) No. 13 - Refer to: Stereo Amplifier Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2016) or Stereo Amplifier Connector For Inputs And Outputs (2017 2018) .
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   Go to step 8.

   NO 

   Go to step 6.

6. Open wire check (RADIO SW+B line)

   -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle ON mode
   	Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) disconnected
   Test point 1	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 21 - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) or Audio-Navigation Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018) .
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there battery voltage?

   YES 

   Repair an open in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio-navigation unit.

   NO 

   The RADIO SW+B wire is not open. Go to step 7.

7. Shorted wire check (RADIO SW+B line)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connectors.

   Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P)

   ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector

   - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) disconnected
   	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) disconnected
   	ANC/active sound control unit 20P connector: disconnected
   Test point 1	Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) No. 21 - Refer to: Audio-Navigation Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2016) or Audio-Navigation Unit Connector for Inputs and Outputs (2017 2018) .
   Test point 2	Body ground

   Is there continuity?

   YES 

   Repair a short to body ground in the wire between the stereo amplifier and the audio-navigation unit.

   NO

8. Shorted wire check (RS485+, RS485- lines)

   -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

   - 2. Disconnect the following connector.

   Audio-navigation unit connector J (28P)

   - 3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   Test condition	Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
   	Stereo amplifier connector B (28P) disconnected
   	Audio-navigation unit connector J (28P) disconnected

   YES 

   There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

   NO 

   The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are not shorted. Go to step 9.

9. Shorted wire check (RS485 lines)

   -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

   	Audio-navigation unit connector J (28P) disconnected

   YES 

   There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

   NO 

   The RS485 wires are not shorted. Go to step 10.

10. Open wire check (RS485+, RS485- lines)

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    	Audio-navigation unit connector J (28P) disconnected

    The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are OK. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the stereo amplifier. Replace the affected shielded harness.

11. Shorted wire check (FL SP PRE +/-, FR SP PRE +/-, RL SP PRE +/-, RR SP PRE +/-, CTR PRE +/-, SUBW PRE +/- lines)

    -1. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P)

    Audio-navigation unit connector E (8P)

    - 2. Check for continuity between following test points and body ground individually.

    -1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    NO 

    Go to step 15.

15. Speaker internal resistance check

    -1. Test the speaker(s).

    YES 

    Go to step 16.

    NO

16. Wire check (SP +/-, TWTR +/-, SPK +/-, SUBW +/- lines)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

18. Stereo amplifier check (substitution)

    -1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original stereo amplifier.

    NO
