Removal Procedure

NOTE:
Suspension components attached to the frame use Torque-to-Yield fasteners and must be DISCARDED and replaced with NEW Torque Angle Yield (TAY) fasteners. The frame to body fasteners are not TAY fasteners.
NOTE:
Vehicle alignment is not required if the cradle is being lowered or dropped to perform another procedure. This vehicle is equipped with a cradle to body aligning feature: cradle to body through holes or self-aligning pins that are part of the cradle or body. Only align if replacing the cradle with a NEW part and transferring components.
- Using mechanics wire, support the radiator and AC condenser assembly to the vehicle body.
- Install the engine support fixture. Engine Support Fixture (LF4)Engine Support Fixture (LGX)
- Disconnect the vacuum filter from the radiator assembly.
- Engine Mount Fastener @ Left Engine Mount - Remove
- Raise and support the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (V-Series)

- Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield - Remove Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement (AWD) Front Wheelhouse Splash Shield Replacement (RWD)
- Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield - Remove Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (RWD) Front Compartment Lower Noise Shield Replacement (AWD)
- Front Cradle Shear Plate - Remove Front Cradle Shear Plate Replacement (V Series)
- Front Compartment Air Deflector - Remove Front Compartment Air Deflector Replacement (V Series)
- { If equipped }Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Fastener - Remove
- Remove the right side engine mount to frame bolts.
- Electrical Connectors @ Power Steering Assist Motor - Disconnect FEP Connectors (Steering Gear)
- Remove the wiring harness retainers from the frame.
- Electrical Connector @ Engine Mount Vacuum Solenoid - Disconnect
- Remove the wiring harness retainers from the frame.
- Intermediate Steering Shaft - Disconnect Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (RWD)Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement (AWD)
- Vacuum Hose @ Engine Mount Vacuum Hose - Disconnect
- Stabilizer Shaft Link @ Stabilizer Shaft - Remove Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (V-Series)
- Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod - Remove Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement (V-Series)
- Wiring Harness Retainer - Disengage
- Electrical Connector - Disconnect
- Electronic Suspension Front Position Sensor @ Front Lower Control Rear Link - Disconnect
- Front Lower Control Front Link @ Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle - Remove Front Lower Control Front Link Replacement (V-Series)
- Front Lower Control Rear Link @ Front Steering Knuckle - Remove —
- Charge Air Cooler Bracket Fastener - Remove
- Charge Air Cooler Bracket - Disengage
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Pipe Bolt - Remove
- Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump - Remove Charge Air Cooler Coolant Pump Replacement (LF4)
- Right Front Cradle Brace Fastener - Remove
- Install J-39580 engine support stand under the frame.
- Lower the vehicle until the drivetrain and front suspension frame is resting lightly on the jackstaLower the vehicle to the frame support tablends.
- Remove the four drivetrain and front suspension cradle front bolts (1)
- Remove the two drivetrain and front suspension cradle interior bolts (2)
- Remove the two drivetrain and front suspension cradle rear bolts (3)
- Remove the fasteners from the charge air cooler to cradle bracket. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Replacement - Left Side
- With the aid of an assistant, carefully raise the body from the frame.
- Ensure when raising the body the following items are clear from the frame:
- Vacuum lines
- Steering knuckles
- Electrical wiring harnesses
- Oil coolers lines
NOTE:
The right front cradle brace (2) can be removed when the drivetrain and front suspension frame is lowered in the next step.
