DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition SODCMC U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Set by the SODCMC as a continuous memory DTC if the SODCMC detects low battery voltage below 9.0 volts for more than 100 ms. SODCMD U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Set by the SODCMD as a continuous memory DTC if the SODCMD detects low battery voltage below 9.0 volts for more than 100 ms. SODL U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Set by the SODL as a continuous memory DTC if the SODL detects low battery voltage below 9.0 volts for more than 100 ms. SODR U3003:16 Battery Voltage: Circuit Voltage Below Threshold Set by the SODR as a continuous memory DTC if the SODR detects low battery voltage below 9.0 volts for more than 100 ms. Possible Sources
- Wiring, terminals and connectors
- Battery
- Generator
- SODCMC
- SODCMD
- SODL
- SODR
- PCM
- NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed results in false resistance readings. REFER to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
- W1 RECHECK THE SODCMC (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE C), SODCMD (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE D), SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) OR SODR (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE RH) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the SODCMC, SODCMD, SODL and SODR self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 still present?
Yes GO to W2 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to a previous low battery voltage condition. - W2 CHECK FOR PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) CHARGING SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.
Are any charging system DTCs present in the PCM?
Yes REFER to the appropriate DTC Chart. No GO to W3 - W3 CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE
- Check the battery condition and verify the battery is fully charged. REFER to: Battery .
Is the battery OK and fully charged?
Yes GO to W4 No INSTALL a new battery. REFER to: Battery . - W4 CHECK THE SODCMC (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE C), SODCMD (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE D), SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) OR SODR (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE RH) VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect SODCMC C1483.
- Disconnect SODCMD C1484.
- For Incandescent rear lamps.
- Disconnect SODL C412B.
- Disconnect SODR C415B.
- For LED rear lamps.
- Disconnect SODL C4483.
- Disconnect SODR C4484.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure and record battery voltage at the battery.
- For SODCMC and SODCMD, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C1483-1 Ground C1484-1 Ground
- For SODL and SODR (Incandescent rear lamps), measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C412B-1 Ground C415B-1 Ground
- For SODL and SODR (LED rear lamps), measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4483-8 Ground C4484-8 Ground
Is the voltage within 0.2 volts of the recorded battery voltage?
Yes GO to W5 No REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. - W5 CHECK THE SODCMC (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE C), SODCMD (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE D), SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) OR SODR (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE RH) GROUND CIRCUIT
- Ignition OFF.
- For SODCMC and SODCMD, measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4183-4 Ground C4183-8 Ground C4184-4 Ground
- For SODL and SODR (Incandescent rear lamps), measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C412B-2 Ground C412B-5 Ground C415B-2 Ground
- For SODL and SODR (LED rear lamps), measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C4483-5 Ground C4483-9 Ground C4484-5 Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to W6 No REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. - W6 CHECK FOR CORRECT SODCMC (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE C), SODCMD (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE D), SODL (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE LH) OR SODR (SIDE OBSTACLE DETECTION CONTROL MODULE RH) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the SODCMC, SODCMD, SODL or SODR connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the SODCMC, SODCMD, SODL or SODR connector. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, INSTALL a new SODCMC, SODCMD, SODL or SODR. REFER to: Side Obstacle Detection Control Module C (SODCMC) . REFER to: Side Obstacle Detection Control Module D (SODCMD) . REFER to: Side Obstacle Detection Control Module . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
