Pinpoint Test Y: Transmission Pull From Park Switch
- Refer to TRANSMISSION CONTROLS - TR9070
for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
In the event the TCM is not able to disengage park, the vehicle is equipped with a manual park release cable. A pull from park switch is located at the console end of the manual park release cable. The TCM monitors the voltage drop across the pull from park switch to determine if the transmission manual park release is activated.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition TCM P071D:00 Transmission Mode Switch 'B' Circuit: No Sub Type Information The TCM has detected an inconsistency between the pull from park switch and the transmission park position sensors A and B. The pull from park switch is indicating out-of-park and transmission park position sensors A and B are both indicating in-park. This can be caused by a sticking, binding, disconnected, damaged, or incorrectly routed manual park release cable. TCM P071E:00 Transmission Mode Switch 'B' Circuit Low: No Sub Type Information The TCM sets this DTC if it detects an open circuit in the pull from park switch circuit. TCM P071F:00 Transmission Mode Switch 'B' Circuit High: No Sub Type Information The TCM sets this DTC if it detects a short to ground in the pull from park switch circuit. Possible Sources
- Manual park release cable sticking, binding, or misrouted
- Park position sensor calibration
- Pull from park switch
- Y1 CHECK THE INSTALLATION AND OPERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION MANUAL PARK RELEASE CABLE
- Check the transmission park manual release cable. Make sure it is properly installed. REFER to: Transmission Park Manual Release Cable
- Operate the transmission park manual release system. Make sure the manual park release lever on the transmission moves as the cable pull strap is pulled and released. REFER to: Transmission Park by Wire Manual Release
Is the transmission park manual release cable properly installed, and does it operate correctly?
Yes GO to Y2 No REPAIR the transmission park manual release system as necessary. REFER to: Transmission Park Manual Release Cable - Y2 CHECK THE TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the TCM.
Are any circuit or performance diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the transmission internal park system or TR sensor present?
Yes RESOLVE all diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the transmission internal park system or TR sensor first. REFER to the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart . No GO to Y3 - Y3 CHECK THE PULL FROM PARK SWITCH SIGNAL INPUT CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE
