Pinpoint Test T : The Grade Assist Indicator Is Never Or Always On

If the transmission drive mode message is missing or invalid for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the grade assist indicator to the last indication state (on or off), based upon on the last message received.
If the transmission drive mode message is missing or invalid for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the grade assist indicator on.

- T1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) No GO to T2 - T2 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.
- Check for recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS (1.0L) or refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS (2.0L) No GO to T3 - T3 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes No GO to T4 - T4 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING A SCAN TOOL
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, view the IPC Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Select the IPC overdrive off (OVERDRV) PID.
- Command all the indicators on then off. Observe the grade assist indicator.
Does the grade assist indicator turn on when commanded on and turn off when commanded off?
Yes DIAGNOSE the transmission grade assist function. REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom . or REFER to: Diagnosis By Symptom . No INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
