Diagnostics in this manual assume a certain skill level and knowledge of Ford-specific diagnostic practices.

SYMPTOM CHART

Condition Possible Sources Actions
All the chimes are inoperative IPC
  • ENTER the dealer test mode and scroll to the chime test screen. REFER to Dealer Test Mode .
  • If the chime does not operate in the dealer test mode, INSTALL a new IPC.

    REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)  .

  • If the chime operates in the dealer test mode, DIAGNOSE and REPAIR any individual chimes that are inoperative.
The chime sounds when the driver door is ajar (no key in ignition and headlamps off) Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test W 
The key-in-ignition warning chime is inoperative (without Intelligent Access [IA]) Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test X 
The headlamps on warning chime is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test Y 
The hill start assist chime is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test BB 
The key left in vehicle chime is inoperative-with Intelligent Access (IA) Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test BC 
The passive key out of vehicle chime is inoperative-with Intelligent Access (IA) Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test BC 
The low fuel warning chime is inoperative or always sounds Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test BD 
The remote key programming chime is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test BF 
The safety belt warning chime is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test AA 
The Belt-Minder® chime is inoperative Refer to the Pinpoint Test GO to Pinpoint Test AA 
The Belt-Minder® cannot be deactivated A MyKey® is in the ignition The system is operating correctly. To disable the Belt-Minder®, an administrator key must be used.

The active park assist chime is inoperative
  • Active park assist system concern
  • IPC
 With the ignition in OFF mode, the driver door closed and the driver safety belt unbuckeled, place the ignition in the ON mode and check the safety belt warning chime. If the safety belt warning chime sounds, diagnose the active park assist system. REFER to: PARKING AID . If the safety belt warning indicator is inoperative, GO to Pinpoint Test R
