Diagnostic Trouble Code Definitions

NOTE: For transmission DTCs, perform appropriate system test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table. For engine-related DTCs output during QUICK TEST procedure, see appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. These DTCs pertain to engine performance and must be repaired first, as engine performance will greatly affect transmission operation.

P0102 & P0103 (2) MAF Sensor Malfunction MAF System Has A Malfunction Which May Cause A Transaxle Concern Incorrect Shift Schedule, High/Low EPC Pressure. Incorrect TCC Engagement Scheduling. Symptoms Similar To A TP Failure
P0112 (2) IAT Indicates 254°F (125° C) - Short To Ground Voltage Drop Across IAT Exceeds Scale Set For Temperature 125°C (254°F) Incorrect EPC Pressure. Either High Or Low Which Will Result In Harsh Or Soft Shifts
P0113 (2) IAT Indicates -40°F (-40°C) - Open Circuit Voltage Drop Across IAT Exceeds Scale Set For Temperature -40°C (-40°F) Incorrect EPC Pressure. Either High Or Low Which Will Result In Harsh Or Soft Shifts
P0114 (2) IAT Out Of On-Board Diagnostic Range IAT Temperature Higher Or Lower Than Expected During KOEO & KOER Re-Run On-Board Diagnostics At Normal Operating Temperature

P0117 (2) ECT Indicates 254°F (125°C) - Short To Ground Voltage Drop Across ECT Exceeds Scale Set For Temperature 125°C (254°F) TCC Will Always Be Off Resulting In Poor Fuel Economy

P0120, P0122 & P0123 (2) TP Sensor Malfunction PCM Has Detected An Error. This Error May Cause A Transaxle Concern Harsh Shifts, Abnormal Shift Patterns, TCC Does Not Engage, TCC Cycling
P0300-P0308, P0320 & P0340 (2) Electronic Ignition (EI) System Malfunction EI System Has A Malfunction Which May Cause A Transaxle Concern Harsh Engagements & Shifts, No TCC Engagement
P0500 & P0503 (2) Insufficient VSS Input PCM Detected A Loss Of VSS Signal TCC Engages, Shift Hunting On Grades
P0705 C  Digital TR Sensor Circuit Short To Ground Or Open Digital TR Sensor Circuits, Indicating An Invalid Pattern In TR_D. Condition Caused By A Short To Ground Or An Open In TR4, TR3A, TR2 and/or TR1 circuits, DTC P0705 Cannot Be Set By An Incorrectly Adjusted Digital TR Sensor Increase in EPC Pressure (Harsh Shifts); Defaults To OD Or D For All Gear Positions; In OD Position, Transmission Is Stuck In D Or Manual 2nd
P0707 C  Digital TR Sensor Circuit Below Minimum Voltage TR Sensor, Circuit Or PCM Shorted Or Grounded Increase In EPC Pressure
P0708 C  Digital TR Sensor Circuit TR3A Open Circuit Digital TR Sensor Circuit TR3A Reading 2.6- 5.0V (Open Circuit). This DTC Cannot Be Set By An Incorrectly Adjusted Digital TR Sensor Increase In EPC Pressure, Defaults To OD Or D For All Gear Ranges
P0712 B  TFT Indicates 315°F (157°C) - Short To Ground Voltage Drop Across TFT Sensor Exceeds Scale Set For Temperature Of 315°F (157°C) TCC & Stabilized Shift Schedule May Be Enabled Sooner After Cold Start. Harsh Or Soft Shifts
P0713 B  TFT Indicates -40°F (-40°C) - Open Circuit Voltage Drop Across TFT Sensor Exceeds Scale Set For Temperature Of -40°F (-40°C) TCC & Stabilized Shift Schedule May Be Enabled Sooner After Cold Start. Harsh Or Soft Shifts
P0720 E  Insufficient Input From Output Shaft Speed Sensor PCM Has Detected No OSS Signal Abnormal Shift Schedule, No TCC Engagement
P0721 E  Noisy Signal From OSS Sensor PCM Has Detected An Erratic OSS Signal Abnormal Shift Schedule, No TCC Engagement
P0722 E  Intermittent Signal From OSS Sensor PCM Has Detected An Erratic Or No OSS Signal Abnormal Shift Schedule, No TCC Engagement
P0740 A  TCC Electrical Circuit Failure TCC Circuit Fails To Provide Voltage Drop Across Solenoid. Circuit Open Or Shorted Or PCM Driver Failed During On-Board Diagnostic Short Circuit: Engine Stalls In 2nd (OD, 2 Range) At Low Idle Speeds With Brake Applied. Open Circuit: Torque Converter Clutch Never Engages. Flashing TCIL
P0741 (3) A (5) The PCM Picked Up An Excessive Amount Of TCC Slippage During Normal Vehicle Operation N/A TCC Slippage/Erratic Or No Torque Converter Clutch Operation. Flashing TCIL
P0743 (6) A  TCC Solenoid Circuit Failure During On-Board Diagnostic TCC Solenoid Circuit Fails To Provide Voltage Drop Across Solenoid, Circuit Open Or Shorted Or PCM Drive Failure During On-Board Diagnostic If Short Circuit, Engine Stalls At Low Idle; If Open Circuit, TCC Does Not Engage
P0750 (6) A  SSA Solenoid Circuit Failure SSA Circuit Failed To Provide Voltage Drop Across Solenoid. Circuit Open Or Shorted Or PCM Driver Failure During On-Board Diagnostic (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position
P0751 A  SSA Solenoid Functional Failure Mechanical Or Hydraulic Failure Of The Shift Solenoid (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Failure Mode & Manual Lever Position
P0753 A  SSA Solenoid Circuit Failure SSA Circuit Failed To Provide Voltage Drop Across Solenoid. Circuit Open Or Shorted Or PCM Driver Failure During On-Board Diagnostic (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position, Flashing TCIL
P0755 (6) A  SSB Solenoid Circuit Failure SSB Circuit Failed To Provide Voltage Drop Across Solenoid. Circuit Open Or Shorted Or PCM Driver Failure During On-Board Diagnostic (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position
P0756 A  SSB Solenoid Functional Failure Mechanical Or Hydraulic Failure Of The Shift Solenoid (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Failure Mode & Manual Lever Position
P0758 A  SSB Solenoid Circuit Failure SSB Circuit Failed To Provide Voltage Drop Across Solenoid. Circuit Open Or Shorted Or PCM Driver Failure During On-Board Diagnostic (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position, Flashing TCIL
P0781 (3) A  1-2 Shift Error Incorrect Gear Ratio While Commanding 1st Gear (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position. Shift Errors May Also Be Due To Other Internal Transaxle Concerns (e.g., Stuck Valves, Damaged Friction Material)
P0782 (3) A  2-3 Shift Error Incorrect Gear Ratio While Commanding 2nd Gear (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position. Shift Errors May Also Be Due To Other Internal Transaxle Concerns (e.g., Stuck Valves, Damaged Friction Material)
P0783 (3) A  3-4 Shift Error Incorrect Gear Ratio While Commanding 3rd Gear (4) Incorrect Gear Selection Depending On Condition Mode & Manual Lever Position. Shift Errors May Also Be Due To Other Internal Transaxle Concerns (e.g., Stuck Valves, Damaged Friction Material)
P1100 & P1101 (2) MAF Sensor Malfunction MAF System Has A Malfunction Which May Cause A Transaxle Concern Incorrect Shift Schedule, High/Low EPC Pressure. Incorrect TCC Engagement Scheduling. Symptoms Similar To A TP Failure
P1120, P1121, P1124 & P1125 (2) TP Sensor Malfunction PCM Has Detected An Error. This Error May Cause A Transaxle Concern Harsh Shifts, Abnormal Shift Patterns, TCC Does Not Engage, TCC Cycling
P1351-P1364 (2) Electronic Ignition (EI) System Malfunction EI System Has A Malfunction Which May Cause A Transaxle Concern Harsh Engagements & Shifts, No TCC Engagement
P1460 (2) ACC Switch Error A/C or Defrost ON Condition May Result From A/C Clutch Being On During On-Board Diagnostic Re-Run Diagnostics With A/C Off; If Stuck On, EPC Pressure Will Be Low
P1636 (2) PCM Detected Internal Error N/A N/A

P1710 B  TFT Sensor In Range Malfunction PCM Detected TFT Not Changing Firm Shift, TCIL Flashing, Increase In EPC Pressure
P1711 B  TFT Sensor Not At Operating Temperature (25-240°F) During On-Board Diagnostics Warm Or Cool Vehicle To Normal Operating Temperature Vehicle Cold Or Overheated
P1713 B  TFT Continually Reading Cold TFT Sensor In Range Low Failure Firm shift feel. Substitute ECT for TFT

P1746 (6) D  Open PCM Output Driver Voltage Through EPC Solenoid Is Checked & Compared To A Voltage Through Solenoid After A Time Delay, Any Errors Are Recorded Open Circuit - Causes Maximum EPC Pressure, Harsh Engagements & Shifts

P1783 B  Transmission Overheating Condition, Fluid Temperature Exceeded - 260°F (127°C) Increase In EPC Pressure During Overtemp. Only Increase In EPC Pressure

(5) Diagnose DTC by symptom. See appropriate SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
(6) Output circuit check, generated ONLY by electrical conditions.
(7) If stuck on or not connected, TCC will not engage at 1/3 or less throttle. If stuck off or not connected, TCC will not disengage when brake is applied.
