DECKLID/Hatch/Liftgate/Tailgate/Swing Gate: Liftgate: Installation

1. With the help of an assistant and using the reference marks, align and position the liftgate onto the vehicle.
2. Install the fasteners (4) securing the tailgate to the vehicle. Tighten the fasteners to 30 N-m (22 ft. lbs).
3. With the aid of the guide wires previously attached to the ends of the wire harnesses, route the harnesses into the liftgate.
4. Install the liftgate wiring harness grommets (3) and spoiler grommet (2) fully.

5. Connect the liftgate support cylinders (2) to the liftgate side (1). Refer to PROP, GAS, INSTALLATION .
6. Remove the previously placed lifting device.

7. Engage the liftgate wiring harness routing clips (1).
8. Connect the wiring connectors from the wiper motor (2).
9. Connect the defroster wiring connectors (3) to the liftgate glass.

10. Install the light bulb sockets into the license plate lamps.
11. Connect the wiring connector (3) to the latch (1).
12. Connect the liftgate opening handle switch wiring connector (2).

13. Install the liftgate spoiler. Refer to SPOILER, INSTALLATION .
14. Install the liftgate and upper lower (1) trims. Refer to PANEL, TRIM, LIFTGATE, INSTALLATION .
15. Connect the battery negative cable.
16. Close the liftgate.
