Valve Body: Installation

Before installing the valve body, replace the O-ring seals on the fluid transfer adapter tubes. Apply a light coating of assembly lube on the O-rings to ease valve body installation.
If removed, position the internal transmission wire harness into position on the valve body. Refer to HARNESS, INTERNAL WIRE, INSTALLATION .
Clean the mating surfaces between the valve body and the transmission housing with a clean lint-free cloth.

1 - Transmission Speed Sensor Assembly and Screw
Install the transmission speed sensor assembly and tighten the screw to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

1 - Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) and Screw
Install the Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) and tighten the screw to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

1 - Valve Body
Rotate the valve body over and align the valve body with the fluid transfer tubes.

1 - Manual Lever Cam

2 - Manual Valve
Guide the manual lever cam into the slot on the manual valve.
Firmly press the valve body inward until the O-rings on the fluid transfer adapters engage into the valve body.

1 - Valve Body Bolts
Install the valve body bolts and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

2 - O-Rings

Install NEW O-rings on the transmission wire connector socket.

NOTE:

A light coating of assembly lube can be applied to the O-rings to ease installation.

Align the indexing flat of the transmission wire connector socket into the indexed opening on the inside of valve body cover and insert the connector.

2 - Retaining Clip
Install the retaining clip to hold the transmission wire connector socket in the valve body cover.
NOTE:
The gasket seal and valve body cover pan are replaced together. If either are damaged you must replace the valve body cover pan/gasket as an assembly.
Make sure the gasket seal is in the groove around the sealing surface of the valve body cover pan.

1 - Valve Body Cover Bolts
Place the transmission pan gasket against the sealing surface of the transmission housing.
Install the valve body cover and tighten the valve body cover bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

1 - Transmission Wire Harness Connector
Connect the transmission wire harness connector.
If equipped, install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, INSTALLATION .

1 - Wiring Harness Bracket

2 - Wiring Harness Bracket Bolts
Install the wiring harness bracket and tighten the bolts to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
Install the vacuum pump mounting bracket and vacuum pump. Refer to PUMP, ELECTRIC VACUUM, INSTALLATION .
Fill the transmission with NEW fluid. Refer to FLUID AND FILTER, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
Perform the Valve Body Solenoid Learn procedure if the valve body and/or the Transmission Control Module (TCM) was replaced during a repair.
Perform Transmission Verification Test - 948TE. Refer to 948TE-9HP48 TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
