Test 41A - Intermittent Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) Circuit
NOTE:
Perform TEST 4A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Using scan tool, monitor shift lever status. Move shifter lever to "P" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
- Move shifter lever to "R" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
- Move shifter lever to "N" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
- Move shifter lever to "OD" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
- Move shifter lever to "3" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
- Move shifter lever to "L" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B . If scan tool display does not change, go to TEST 2A .
