Test 41A - Intermittent Transmission Range Sensor (TRS) Circuit

NOTE: Perform TEST 4A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Using scan tool, monitor shift lever status. Move shifter lever to "P" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B  . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
  2. Move shifter lever to "R" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B  . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
  3. Move shifter lever to "N" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B  . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
  4. Move shifter lever to "OD" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B  . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
  5. Move shifter lever to "3" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B  . If scan tool display does not change, go to next step.
  6. Move shifter lever to "L" position. Wiggle wires going to TRS. If scan tool display fluctuates, go to TEST 41B  . If scan tool display does not change, go to TEST 2A  .
