Test 24A - UD Solenoid Control (DTC 44)

NOTE: Perform TEST 2A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector. On F24S and FJ22 models, inspect terminals No. 19 and 56 on TCM connector. Clean and repair terminals as needed. On all other models, inspect terminals No. 16 and 59 on TCM connector. Clean and repair terminals as needed.
  2. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 19 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 59 of TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to step 4).
  3. Disconnect transmission solenoid pack connector. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 19 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 59 of TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair UD solenoid control circuit for short to ground. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, replace transmission solenoid pack.
  4. Use external ohmmeter, On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminals No. 19 and 56 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminals No. 16 and 59 of TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is 1-3 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 1-3 ohms, go to step 6).
  5. Use scan tool in ohmmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance at terminal No. 17 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance at terminal No. 57 of TCM connector. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open ground circuit.
  6. Disconnect transmission solenoid pack connector. Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal No. 7 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 19 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal No. 5 of solenoid pack connector and terminal No. 59 of TCM connector.
  7. On all models, if resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open UD solenoid control circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  8. Disconnect transmission control relay. Use external ohmmeter. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure resistance between terminal No. 6 of solenoid pack connector and terminal "D" of transmission control relay connector. On all other models, measure resistance between terminal No. 4 solenoid pack connector and terminal "D" of transmission control relay connector.
  9. On all models, if resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace transmission solenoid pack. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open transmission control relay output circuit.
