Test 10A - Transmission Control Relay Output (DTC 21 - Switched Battery)
NOTE:
Perform TEST 2A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect transmission control relay. Disconnect transmission solenoid pack connector. Turn ignition on. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 2 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 1 of solenoid pack connector. On all models, if no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is exists, go to step 5).
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 1 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 2 of solenoid pack connector. On all models, if no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is exists, go to step 5).
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 5 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 3 of solenoid pack connector. On all models, if no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is exists, go to step 5).
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 6 of solenoid pack connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 4 of solenoid pack connector. On all models, if no voltage exists, replace Transmission Control Module (TCM). If voltage is exists, go to step 5).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). Turn ignition on. Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 7 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 47 of TCM connector. If no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is exists, repair 2-4 pressure switch sense circuit for short to battery voltage.
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 49 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 9 of TCM connector. If no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is exists, repair OD pressure switch sense circuit for short to battery voltage.
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminal No. 10 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminal No. 50 of TCM connector. If no voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage is exists, repair L-R pressure switch sense circuit for short to battery voltage.
- Use scan tool in voltmeter mode. On F24S and FJ22 models, measure voltage at terminals No. 56 and 57 of TCM connector. On all other models, measure voltage at terminals No. 16 and 17 of TCM connector. On all models, if no voltage exists, replace TCM. If voltage is exists, repair transmission control relay output control circuit for short to battery voltage.
