Removal Procedure

- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery) , or Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery)
- Throttle Body Assembly - Remove - Throttle Body Assembly Replacement
- Fuel Injector Deadener - Remove - Fuel Injector Deadener Replacement
- Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Pipe @ Intake Manifold - Remove - Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Fuel Injector to Fuel Rail) , or Fuel Injection Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement (Fuel Pump to Fuel Rail)
Electrical Connector (1) - Disconnect
- Wiring Harness Retainer (2) - Remove
- Engine Wiring Harness Bracket Nut (3) - Remove [2x]
- Wiring Harness (4) - Reposition away
- Engine Wiring Harness Bracket(5) - Remove [2x]
Wiring Harness (1) - Disconnect
- Vacuum Pipe (2) - Remove
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve - Remove - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve Replacement
- Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing - Remove - Engine Coolant Thermostat Replacement (LWN)
- NOTE:
Two of the Nuts (1) mount the engine coolant thermostat housing to the intake manifold and cylinder head and were removed in step 13.
Intake Manifold Nut(1, 2) - Remove [7x]
- Intake Manifold (3) - Remove
- Intake Manifold Gasket (4) - Remove and DISCARD
- NOTE:
The intake manifold has 3 gaskets, be sure to remove and DISCARD all three gaskets.
Remove and DISCARD the gaskets (1-3).
- Clean and inspect the intake manifold. Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection
- If replacing the intake manifold, transfer all necessary parts. Intake Manifold Disassemble
NOTE:
Only remove hoses necessary to separate the engine coolant thermostat housing from the intake manifold.
