Installation Procedure
Inspect the NEW steering gear before installation. Some steering gears are equipped with a power steering gear coupling shaft seal (1) with a plastic "fin" to enable better alignment with the intermediate steering shaft. If the ORIGINAL steering gear on the vehicle does NOT contain the plastic "fin," you MUST remove the seal prior to installation. Failure to do so will prevent the steering shaft from connecting to the steering gear correctly.
