Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the oil level indicator. Oil Level Indicator Replacement 
  2. Front Compartment Insulator Replacement - Remove
  3. Exhaust Front Pipe - Remove - Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement (1.6L Diesel LH7)
  4. {If equipped} Remove the engine oil heater. Engine Oil Heater Replacement 
  5. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.

    Oil Pan Drain Plug (1) - Remove

  7. Oil Pan Drain Plug Seal (2) - Remove and DISCARD
  8. Remove the oil filter cap bolt (4).
  9. Oil Filter Cap O-Ring (3) - Remove and DISCARD
  10. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
  11. If the oil pan will be reused:
    1. Oil Filter Cap O-Ring (3) - Install NEW
    2. Install the oil filter cap bolt (4) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in)
    3. Oil Pan Drain Plug Seal (2) - Install NEW
    4. Oil Pan Drain Plug (1) - Install and tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft)

    Electrical Connector (1) @ Engine Oil Level Indicator - Disconnect

    Transmission Bolt (1) - Remove [2x]

    NOTE:

    Mark the position of the oil pan bolts because of different length.

    Oil Pan Bolt (1, 2, 3) - Remove [15x]

    Loosen the oil pan carefully from the lower cylinder block, use a suitable tool at the location as shown to pry (1).

    Oil Pan (1) - Remove

    Remove and DISCARD the oil filter seal (1)

  18. Disassemble the oil pan. Oil Pan Disassemble
