Removal Procedure

  1. Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Remove
  2. Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - Remove
  3. Ignition Coil Replacement - Remove
  4. Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement - Remove
  5. Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement - Remove

    Remove the wiring harness fasteners (1) then reposition the wiring harness (2) as needed.

  7. Disconnect and reposition remaining wiring harness connectors as needed.
  8. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement - Remove

    NOTE:

    The PCV valve and tube assembly (2) are not reusable. If reinstalling the camshaft cover, do not remove the PCV valve and tube assembly (2) from the camshaft cover.

    Remove the PCV valve tube fastener (1).

  10. Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe Replacement (LE2)Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe Replacement (LUV) - Remove
  11. Engine Lift Front Bracket Replacement  - Remove
  12. Engine Lift Rear Bracket Replacement  - Remove
  13. Remove the engine oil level indicator.

    NOTE:

    Note the location of the two camshaft cover double end fasteners (1) for correct installation.

    Remove the camshaft cover fasteners (1) and (2) then remove the camshaft cover (3).

  15. Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement - Intake - Remove
  16. Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement - Exhaust - Remove
  17. Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Intake - Remove
  18. Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Exhaust - Remove
  19. GM3972415

    Remove and DISCARD the camshaft cover gaskets (1) from the camshaft cover (2).

  20. If reinstalling the camshaft cover, clean and inspect the cover then transfer components as needed.
