Installation Procedure
Install NEW the camshaft cover gaskets (1). Ensure that the gasket is located in the retaining groove in the camshaft cover (2).
- NOTE:
Apply approximately a 5 mm (0.2 in) thick bead of camshaft cover sealant on both sides between the cylinder head and the engine front cover. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers .
Apply sealant in the area indicated by arrows
- Install the camshaft cover (3) then hand start the camshaft cover fasteners (1) and (2).
- CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
Tighten the camshaft cover bolts in sequence to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (Fresh Air) Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (Foul Air) - Install
- Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement - Intake - Install
- Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement - Exhaust - Install
- Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Intake - Install
- Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Exhaust - Install
Position the wiring harness (2) then install the fasteners (1). Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Connect remaining wiring harness connectors as needed.
- NOTE:
If the PCV valve has been removed from the valve cover, replace the valve and tube assembly (2).
Install the PCV valve tube fastener (1). Tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in)
- Install the engine oil level indicator.

- Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement - Install
- Ignition Coil Replacement - Install
- Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement - Install
- Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Install
- Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - Install
- Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement - Install
Ensure correct location of the two camshaft cover double end fasteners (1)
