Removal Procedure

- Turn the steering wheel to the straight ahead position and lock it in place.
- Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement .
- Remove the steering column dash seal. Refer to Steering Column Dash Inner Seal Replacement .
- Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove both of the front bumper fascia opening lower covers. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Opening Lower Cover Replacement .
- Remove the front compartment insulator. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .
- Remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to Exhaust Muffler Replacement (L5Q)Exhaust Muffler Replacement (LV7) .
- Disconnect both of the steering gear tie rod ends from the steering knuckle. Refer to Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement .
- Remove both of the stabilizer shaft links. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
- Disconnect both of the control arm ball joints from the steering knuckles. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
- Disconnect the transmission rear mount from the transmission rear mount bracket. Refer to Transmission Rear Mount Replacement .
- Support the cradle using the hydraulic jack.
- Release the cradle front bolts about 10 mm and remove the cradle bracket bolts and the cradle rear bolts. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Cradle Replacement .
- Lower the rear portion of cradle about 300 mm.
- Remove the front stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts (1).
- Remove the front stabilizer shaft assembly (2) from the cradle.
