Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation tube (front). Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (L5Q (Front)) .
  4. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation tube (rear). Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (L5Q (Rear)) .
  5. Disconnect the fuel injector connectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L5Q) .
  6. Remove the ignition coil bolt (1) and remove the ignition coil (2). Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement (L5Q) .

  7. Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement (L5Q) .
  8. Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement (L5Q) .
  9. Remove the engine cam-phaser bracket bolt (1) and remove the engine cam-phaser bracket.

  10. Remove the engine lift bracket bolt (3) and remove the engine lift bracket.
  11. Remove the oil filler cap.
  12. Remove the vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement (L5Q) .
  13. Remove the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Replacement (L5Q) .
  14. Remove the 1 camshaft cover stud bolt (2).

  15. Remove the 14 camshaft cover bolts (1).
  16. Remove the camshaft cover (3).
  17. Remove the camshaft cover gasket (1).

  18. Remove the camshaft cover seals (2).
