Removal Procedure

- Open the hood.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the positive crankcase ventilation tube (front). Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (L5Q (Front)) .
- Remove the positive crankcase ventilation tube (rear). Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (L5Q (Rear)) .
- Disconnect the fuel injector connectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the ignition coil bolt (1) and remove the ignition coil (2). Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the engine cam-phaser bracket bolt (1) and remove the engine cam-phaser bracket.
- Remove the engine lift bracket bolt (3) and remove the engine lift bracket.
- Remove the oil filler cap.
- Remove the vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Replacement (L5Q) .
- Remove the 1 camshaft cover stud bolt (2).
- Remove the 14 camshaft cover bolts (1).
- Remove the camshaft cover (3).
- Remove the camshaft cover gasket (1).
- Remove the camshaft cover seals (2).
