Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the cured RTV carefully (1) and then clean the sealing surfaces.

  2. Apply RTV sealant to T-joint between cylinder head and front cover (1).
    NOTE: After RTV applying, the assembly completion time including torque check must be done within 8 minutes.
  3. Install the camshaft cover seals (2) to the camshaft cover.

  4. Install the camshaft cover gasket (1) to the camshaft cover.
  5. Install the camshaft cover (3).

  6. Install the 14 camshaft cover bolts (1) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
  7. Install the 1 camshaft cover stud bolt (2) and tighten to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
  8. Install the oil level indicator. Refer to Oil Level Indicator Replacement (L5Q) .
  9. Install the vacuum pump. Refer to Vacuum Pump Assembly Replacement (L5Q) .
  10. Install the oil filler cap.
  11. Install the engine cam-phaser bracket (2) and install the engine cam-phaser bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  12. Install the engine lift bracket (4) and remove the engine lift bracket bolt (3) and tighten to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).
  13. Install the camshaft position actuator solenoid valve. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement (L5Q) .
  14. Install the camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement (L5Q) .
  15. Install the ignition coil bolt (1) and install the ignition coil. Refer to Ignition Coil Replacement (L5Q) .

  16. Connect the fuel injector connectors. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement (L5Q) .
  17. Install the positive crankcase ventilation tube (front). Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (L5Q (Front)) .
  18. Install the positive crankcase ventilation tube (rear). Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Tube Replacement (L5Q (Rear)) .
  19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  20. Close the hood.
