Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-134a) Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (R-1234yf) .
  4. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  5. Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement (Projection/SBV)Headlamp Replacement (BASE/SBM) .
  6. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement .
  7. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (L5Q) .
  8. Release the air cleaner inlet duct from air cleaner outlet resonator. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
  9. Remove the surge tank bolts and reposition the surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement .
  10. Remove the radiator air upper baffle. Refer to Radiator Air Upper Baffle and Deflector Replacement .
  11. Disconnect the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
  12. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly nut (1) to air conditioning evaporator thermal expansion valve.

  13. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly mounting bracket nut (2).
  14. Unclip the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly clips (1) from hose assembly (2).

  15. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly bolt (1) to air conditioning compressor.

  16. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly nut (2) to air conditioning condenser.
  17. Remove the upper tie bar to impact bar retaining bolts left side (1).

  18. Remove the upper tie bar to impact bar retaining bolts right side (1).

  19. Remove the upper tie bar to front compartment side rail retaining nut left side (1).

  20. Remove the upper tie bar to front compartment side rail retaining nut right side (1).

  21. Disconnect any electrical connectors around the front upper tie bar assembly.
  22. Unclip the electrical wiring harness retaining clips around the front upper tie bar assembly.
  23. Pull up and reposition the upper tie bar assembly (1).

  24. Remove the air conditioning evaporator hose assembly (1).

  25. Remove and discard the old sealing washers and replace NEW sealing washers.
