Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers left side and right side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (With C99) Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Without C99) .

    WARNING: Verify the proper installation of the airbag disable switch. Ensure the airbag disable switch is functioning properly by activating and deactivating the switch. If the airbag disable switch is not properly installed, and its function is not verified, the airbag may discharge improperly and cause personal injury or death.
  3. Remove the instrument panel knee bolster (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Knee Bolster Replacement .

  4. Remove the instrument panel compartment (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .

  5. Remove the instrument panel trim plate (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Plate Replacement .

  6. Remove the instrument panel lower trim plate applique (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Plate Applique Replacement .

  7. Remove the radio assembly (2). Refer to Radio ReplacementRadio Replacement (BYOM Silver Box) .

  8. If equipped, remove the driver information display. Refer to Driver Information Display Replacement (BYOM) .

  9. If equipped, remove the BYOM silver box. Refer to Radio ReplacementRadio Replacement (BYOM Silver Box) (BYOM Silver Box).

  10. If the automatic HVAC is equipped, remove the heater and air conditioning control (2). Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control Replacement .

  11. If the manual HVAC is equipped, remove the heater and air conditioning control with cable control (2). Refer to Heater and Air Conditioning Control with Cable Control Replacement .
  12. Remove the instrument panel trim plate applique (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement (Driver) Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement (Passenger) .

  13. Remove the instrument panel center trim plate applique (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Plate Applique Replacement .

  14. Remove the instrument panel trim plate applique at driver side. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement (Driver) Instrument Panel Trim Plate Applique Replacement (Passenger) .

  15. Remove the instrument panel cluster trim plate (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Cluster Trim Plate Replacement .

  16. Remove the instrument panel cluster (2). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

  17. Remove both of the windshield garnish moldings (3). Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement .

  18. Remove the sun load temperature sensor. Refer to Sun Load Temperature Sensor Replacement .

  19. If needed, install a wire to the sun load sensor connector for easy installation.
  20. {If equipped} Remove the forward collision alert display assembly (1). Refer to Forward Collision Alert Display Replacement

  21. Remove the instrument panel screws (1) from the left side of the I/P upper trim panel.

  22. Remove the instrument panel screws (1) from the center of the I/P upper trim panel.

  23. Remove the instrument panel screws (1) from the right side of the I/P upper trim panel.

  24. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module bracket bolts (1).

  25. Release the instrument panel wiring harness clips (1) [3x] from I/P tie bar to get a working space for releasing the passenger air bag connector.

  26. Release the instrument panel upper trim panel clips (1) from I/P lower trim panel.

  27. Raise the instrument upper trim panel slightly and disconnect the passenger airbag electrical connector (1).

    NOTE: Please be careful. The length of the passenger side air bag connector harness is short.
  28. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel electrical harness assembly, to ensure proper reinstallation.

  29. Disconnect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel and position out of the way.
  30. With the aid of an assistant lift the instrument panel upper trim panel (1) rearward and upward from the I/P lower trim panel and the tie bar assembly.
  31. Remove the instrument panel upper trim panel from the vehicle.
  32. Transfer all necessary components.
