Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief
  2. Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt - Remove - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
  3. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
  4. Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection - Disconnect
  5. Engine Sight Shield Replacement  - Remove
  6. Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement - Remove
  7. Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement - Remove
  8. Battery Tray Replacement - Remove
  9. Front Compartment Fuse Block Replacement - Remove

    Electrical Connector(1) - Remove

  11. Retainer(5) - Unclip[2x]
  12. Electrical Connector(4) - Disconnect
  13. Ground Cable Nut(2) - Remove
  14. Ground Cable(3) - Remove
  15. Engine Wiring Harness - Position aside

    Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe(2) - Unclip

  17. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Retainer Spring(1) - Unclip
  18. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose(3)@Throttle Body(4) - Remove
  19. Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
  20. Front Bumper Fascia Replacement - Remove
  21. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling
  22. Lower the vehicle.

    Range Selector Lever Cable(1)@Range Selector Lever Cable Lever - Remove - Use a suitable tool.

  24. Push (arrows) the lashes (2) to release the range selector lever cable.

    Clamp(2) - Loosen[2x]

  27. Heater Outlet Hose(1) - Remove
  28. Heater Inlet Hose(3) - Remove

    Clamp(4) - Remove[2x]

  30. Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose(1)@Radiator Surge Tank(2) - Remove
  31. Heater Outlet Hose(5)@Radiator Surge Tank - Remove
  32. Transmission Vent Hose(3)@Radiator Surge Tank - Remove

    Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe(2)@Vacuum Pump(3) - Remove - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

  34. Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe(2)@Intake Manifold(1) - Remove - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  35. Place collecting basin underneath.

    Fuel/gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

    Evaporative Emission Front Pipe(1)@Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve(2) - Remove - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service

    Fuel Feed Front Pipe(2)@Fuel Injection Pump(3) - Disconnect

  38. Clip(1) - Remove
  39. Engine Support Fixture  - Install
  40. Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  41. Underbody Brace Replacement - Front - Remove
  42. Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement - Remove
  43. Drain the transmission. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill .
  44. Stabilizer Shaft Link@Front Shock Absorber - Remove[2x] - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
  45. Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod@Steering Knuckle - Remove[2x] - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
  46. Front Lower Control Arm@Steering Knuckle - Remove[2x] - Lower Control Arm Replacement
  47. Front Wheel Drive Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Remove

    Wheel Speed Sensor Connector(3) - Disconnect

  49. Electrical Connector(4) - Disconnect
  50. Electrical Connector(1) - Disconnect
  51. Retainer(2) - Unclip[3x]

    Wheel Speed Sensor Connector(2) - Disconnect

  53. Retainer - Unclip[6x]

    Secure the radiator (2) to the front end upper tie bar, use 2 lashing straps (1).

    Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Bolt(1)@Air Conditioning Compressor - Remove

  56. Air Conditioning Compressor Hose(2) - Remove
  57. Seal Ring(3, 4) - Remove and DISCARD[2x]
  58. Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement @Radiator - Remove
  59. Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement @Radiator - Remove
  60. Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Replacement @Charge Air Cooler - Remove
  61. Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement @Charge Air Cooler - Remove
  62. Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement @Transmission - Remove
  63. Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement @Transmission - Remove
  64. Underbody Brace Replacement - Middle X-Rod - Remove

    Support the drivetrain and front suspension cradle with a suitable hydraulic jack.

  66. Transmission Mount Bolt(4) - Remove
  67. Transmission Front Mount Fastener(6) - Remove
  68. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt(2) - Remove[4x]
  69. Remove the 2 drivetrain and front suspension frame rear bolts (3).
  70. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support(1) - Remove[2x]
  71. Remove the 2 drivetrain and front suspension frame front bolts (7).
  72. NOTE:

    A second technician is required.

  73. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame(5) - Remove
  74. Lower the vehicle.
  75. Position an engine support table under the powertrain assembly.
  76. Blocks of wood can be used between the front of the frame and the oil pan in order to level the powertrain during the removal.
  77. With the table positioned, fully raise the table to contact with the powertrain assembly.

    Engine Mount Bolt(1) - Remove and DISCARD[3x]

    Transmission Mount Bolt(1) - Remove and DISCARD[3x]

  80. Engine Support Fixture  - Remove
  81. Slowly and carefully raise the vehicle, ensure the powertrain assembly are free from wiring, hoses and other engine compartment components.
  82. Transmission - Separate - Transmission Replacement
  83. Engine Coolant Hose - Disconnect as necessary
  84. Disconnect all electrical connectors.
  85. Transfer components as necessary.
