Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Fuel Pressure Relief
- Intermediate Steering Shaft Lower Bolt - Remove - Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement
- Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
- Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection - Disconnect
- Engine Sight Shield Replacement - Remove
- Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement - Remove
- Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement - Remove
- Battery Tray Replacement - Remove
- Front Compartment Fuse Block Replacement - Remove
Electrical Connector(1) - Remove
- Retainer(5) - Unclip[2x]
- Electrical Connector(4) - Disconnect
- Ground Cable Nut(2) - Remove
- Ground Cable(3) - Remove
- Engine Wiring Harness - Position aside
Turbocharger Coolant Return Pipe(2) - Unclip
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Retainer Spring(1) - Unclip
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose(3)@Throttle Body(4) - Remove
- Remove the front tire and wheel assemblies. Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
- Front Bumper Fascia Replacement - Remove
- Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling
- Lower the vehicle.
Range Selector Lever Cable(1)@Range Selector Lever Cable Lever - Remove - Use a suitable tool.
- Push (arrows) the lashes (2) to release the range selector lever cable.
- Range Selector Lever Cable@Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Bracket - Remove
Clamp(2) - Loosen[2x]
- Heater Outlet Hose(1) - Remove
- Heater Inlet Hose(3) - Remove
Clamp(4) - Remove[2x]
- Engine Coolant Air Bleed Hose(1)@Radiator Surge Tank(2) - Remove
- Heater Outlet Hose(5)@Radiator Surge Tank - Remove
- Transmission Vent Hose(3)@Radiator Surge Tank - Remove
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe(2)@Vacuum Pump(3) - Remove - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Power Brake Booster Vacuum Pipe(2)@Intake Manifold(1) - Remove - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
- Place collecting basin underneath.
- WARNING:
Fuel/gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.
Evaporative Emission Front Pipe(1)@Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve(2) - Remove - Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
Fuel Feed Front Pipe(2)@Fuel Injection Pump(3) - Disconnect
- Clip(1) - Remove
- Engine Support Fixture - Install
- Raise the vehicle. Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
- Underbody Brace Replacement - Front - Remove
- Exhaust Front Pipe Replacement - Remove
- Drain the transmission. Transmission Fluid Drain and Fill .
- Stabilizer Shaft Link@Front Shock Absorber - Remove[2x] - Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement
- Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod@Steering Knuckle - Remove[2x] - Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
- Front Lower Control Arm@Steering Knuckle - Remove[2x] - Lower Control Arm Replacement
- Front Wheel Drive Shaft@Front Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly - Remove
Wheel Speed Sensor Connector(3) - Disconnect
- Electrical Connector(4) - Disconnect
- Electrical Connector(1) - Disconnect
- Retainer(2) - Unclip[3x]
Wheel Speed Sensor Connector(2) - Disconnect
- Retainer - Unclip[6x]
Secure the radiator (2) to the front end upper tie bar, use 2 lashing straps (1).
Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Bolt(1)@Air Conditioning Compressor - Remove
- Air Conditioning Compressor Hose(2) - Remove
- Seal Ring(3, 4) - Remove and DISCARD[2x]
- Radiator Inlet Hose Replacement @Radiator - Remove
- Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement @Radiator - Remove
- Charge Air Cooler Inlet Air Hose Replacement @Charge Air Cooler - Remove
- Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement @Charge Air Cooler - Remove
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement @Transmission - Remove
- Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement @Transmission - Remove
- Underbody Brace Replacement - Middle X-Rod - Remove
Support the drivetrain and front suspension cradle with a suitable hydraulic jack.
- Transmission Mount Bolt(4) - Remove
- Transmission Front Mount Fastener(6) - Remove
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support Bolt(2) - Remove[4x]
- Remove the 2 drivetrain and front suspension frame rear bolts (3).
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Support(1) - Remove[2x]
- Remove the 2 drivetrain and front suspension frame front bolts (7).
- Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame(5) - Remove
- Lower the vehicle.
- Position an engine support table under the powertrain assembly.
- Blocks of wood can be used between the front of the frame and the oil pan in order to level the powertrain during the removal.
- With the table positioned, fully raise the table to contact with the powertrain assembly.
Engine Mount Bolt(1) - Remove and DISCARD[3x]
Transmission Mount Bolt(1) - Remove and DISCARD[3x]
- Engine Support Fixture - Remove
- Slowly and carefully raise the vehicle, ensure the powertrain assembly are free from wiring, hoses and other engine compartment components.
- Transmission - Separate - Transmission Replacement
- Engine Coolant Hose - Disconnect as necessary
- Disconnect all electrical connectors.
- Transfer components as necessary.
A second technician is required.
