Removal Procedure

NOTE:
Due to a government requirement, the positive crankcase ventilation components have always to be removed and installed from or to the engine as an assembly unit.
- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
- Remove the engine sight shield. Refer to Engine Sight Shield Replacement .
- Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation heater wiring harness plug (1).
- Unclip wiring harness retainer clip (2).
- Squeeze the quick connector (arrow) and disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation heater from the air cleaner outlet duct.
- Remove the 2 positive crankcase ventilation tube bolts (1).
- Unclip wiring harness from the positive crankcase ventilation tube (2).
- Remove the positive crankcase ventilation oil separator bolt (1).
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Remove the starter. Refer to Starter Replacement (2.0L Diesel LUZ) .
- Clip out the wiring harness retainer from the PCV oil separator.
- Remove and DISCARD the 2 positive crankcase ventilation oil separator bolts (3).NOTE: Use a small rotary cutter tool to cut slots into the heads of the bolts. Use an impact driver or similar device to break the initial resistance required to loosen the bolts.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the positive crankcase ventilation oil separator assembly (2) in top direction.
- Remove and DISCARD the seal rings (4, 5).
