Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Install the NEW camshaft cover gasket (1).

  2. Install the camshaft cover (2).
  3. Install the camshaft housing bolts to the camshaft housing.
    NOTE: Remind different bolt lengths.
  4. Tighten the camshaft housing bolts in sequence as shown in the graphic to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

    CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution .
    NOTE: Tighten the bolts in several passes to allow the camshaft housing lower evenly.
  5. Connect the coolant temperature sensor inline connector at the vacuum pump assembly and clip in and position the harness.
  6. Connect the small vacuum line at the vacuum pump assembly.
  7. Connect the brake booster hose at the vacuum pump assembly. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  8. Connect the hose spring clip to the throttle body and position the hose and install the charge air cooler outlet air hose bracket bolt. Refer to Charge Air Cooler Outlet Air Hose Replacement .
  9. Install the wiring harness bracket (1) and the wiring harness bracket bolt (2) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

  10. Connect the camshaft position electrical connector.
  11. Install the bracket (4).

  12. Install the intake manifold bracket bolt (5) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  13. Install the bracket (3).
  14. Install the intake manifold bracket bolt (2) and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  15. Install the intake manifold bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
  16. Install the turbocharger oil feed pipe. Refer to Turbocharger Oil Feed Pipe Replacement .
  17. Install the positive crankcase ventilation oil separator assembly. Refer to Positive Crankcase Ventilation Oil Separator Assembly Replacement .
  18. Install the fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement .
  19. Remove the engine mount. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  20. Remove the engine mount bracket. Refer to Engine Mount Bracket Replacement .
  21. Install the fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement .
  22. Install the timing belt. Refer to Timing Belt Replacement (New Belt)  and Timing Belt Replacement (Used Belt) .
