Removal Procedure

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
    2. Fig 1: Windshield Garnish Molding Assembly

  2. Remove both of the windshield garnish moldings (1). Refer to Windshield Garnish Molding Replacement (Trax) .

  3. Remove the front floor console (2). Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement (Trax) .

  4. Remove the front floor console stowage tray (2). Refer to Front Floor Console Stowage Tray Replacement (Trax) .

  5. Remove the instrument panel outer trim covers left side (1) and right side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Trim Cover Replacement (Trax) .

  6. Remove the instrument panel upper center compartment (3). Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Center Compartment Replacement .

  11. Remove the instrument panel outer air outlets left side (1) and right side (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement (Trax) .

  16. Remove the instrument panel bolts (1).

  17. Remove the instrument panel inflatable restraint module bracket bolts (1).
  18. Remove the instrument panel compartment door latch striker bolt (2).
  19. Disconnect the inflatable restraint module connector from the instrument panel harness.

  20. Note the location and routing of the instrument panel electrical harness assembly, to ensure proper reinstallation.
  21. Disconnect the fasteners securing the instrument panel electrical harness assembly to the instrument panel and position out of the way.
    22. NOTE:

    Use care not to damage the instrument panel airbag module connector on the tie bar during removal.

  22. Reposition the body side front side door weatherstrip on both side in the area that the instrument panel assembly is the widest to allow clearance.
  23. With the aid of an assistant lift the instrument panel (1) rearward and upward from the tie bar assembly.
  24. Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.
  25. Transfer all necessary components.
