Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
    NOTE:

    A new oil pan gasket should be used whenever the oil pan is removed from the engine assembly.

  1. Install the oil pan, refer to Oil Pan Installation (LS3, L99, or LSA)
  2. Fig 1: Removing Bolts From Bell Housing To Oil Pan

  3. Install the bell housing to oil pan bolts (1). Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
  4. If equipped, install the A/C lines. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LS3, L99)Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (LSA) .
  5. Install the engine oil cooler adapter. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Replacement (L99, LSA, LS3) .
  6. Attach the transmission cooler lines to the oil pan. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement (LS3, L99)Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement (LSA) .
  7. Attach the wiring harness to the oil pan as necessary.

  9. Install the right rear transmission bolt and the left rear transmission cover and bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the transmission cover bolts to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

  10. Install the oil filter and fill the engine with the appropriate amount and type of engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement (LSA, LS3, L99) .
  11. Install the front frame. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Replacement .
