Test I: Too Cold In Vehicle

NOTE:
Definition: Temperature can not be adjusted or heating insufficient.
- If diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check was not performed, go to DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Turn ignition on. Place mode switch in any position except OFF. Place blower control switch in each speed position. If blower operates at all, go to next step. If blower does not operate, go to TEST D: BLOWER MOTOR INOPERATIVE .
- If blower operates correctly for each speed position, go to next step. If blower does not operate correctly for each speed position, go to TEST E: BLOWER MOTOR MALFUNCTIONS .
- Check cooling system for low coolant level, loose or worn accessory drive belt, leaking radiator hose or heater hose, kinked radiator hose or heater hose, missing radiator cap pressure seal, and a leaking radiator cap. If a condition was found, repair as necessary and go to step 8. If a condition was not found, go to next step.
- Start engine. Place mode switch in the OFF, VENT or HEAT position. If A/C compressor operates, go to TEST G: COMPRESSOR CLUTCH DOES NOT DISENGAGE . If A/C compressor does not operate, go to next step.
- Check air temperature cable for a broken or binding cable, and broken or binding linkage. If a cable or linkage condition was found, repair as necessary and go to step 8. If a cable and linkage are okay, go to next step.
- Check air temperature door for broken or binding linkage, broken or binding door, and any obstruction preventing door from operating within its full range. If a binding door condition was found, repair as necessary and go to next step. If door is okay, go to HEATING SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST under PERFORMANCE TESTS.
- Operate system to verify repair. If the condition was corrected, system is okay. If the condition was not corrected, go to step 2.
