Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel/EVAP line bundle.
    2. CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Install the fuel line bracket nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  3. Install the fuel hose/pipe clip to the bracket on the transfer case.
  4. Install the fuel line clip to the bracket on the automatic transmission.

  5. Install the fuel pipe bracket to the bellhousing stud.
  6. Install the fuel pipe bracket nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Raise the transmission.
  9. Install the transmission support crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (2WD)Transmission Support Crossmember Replacement (4WD)
  10. Remove the jack stand.
  11. Install the transfer case skid shield. Refer to Transfer Case Skid Shield Replacement
  12. Connect the heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1. Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor Replacement - Bank 1 Sensor 1 
  13. Position the propeller shaft and connect the u-joint retainers. Refer to Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (NQH)Front Axle Propeller Shaft Replacement (Heavy Duty)

  14. Remove the caps from the fuel rail and EVAP line.
  15. Connect the EVAP line (1) quick connect fitting to the chassis line. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  16. Connect the fuel feed line (2) quick connect fitting to the fuel rail. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service 
  17. Install the fuel fill cap.
  18. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Dual Battery)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Single Battery)
  19. Use the following procedure in order to inspect for leaks:
    1. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, for 2 seconds.
    2. Turn the ignition OFF for 10 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
    4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
  20. Install the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement
