Preliminary Procedures Remove the headlamp. Refer to Headlamp Replacement (GMC) Remove the front fender rear upper brace. Refer to Front Fender Rear Upper Brace Replacement . Remove the air cleaner bracket. Refer to Air Cleaner Bracket Replacement . Remove the coolant reservoir bottle from the right fender and set it aside. Do not open the cooling system. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (L83 L86) . Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement . Remove the right hood hinge. Refer to Hood Hinge Replacement . Remove the right wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement - Right Side (GMC) . Remove the right hand side assist step. Refer to Assist Step Replacement (Step Pad - BRS)Assist Step Replacement (Assembly - BRS)Assist Step Replacement (BVE-Short Wheel Base)Assist Step Replacement (BVE-Long Wheel Base)
1	Right Fender Bolts (Qty: 4) CAUTION: Refer to Fastener Caution . Tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft) NOTE: Apply threadlock compound to the bolts.
2	Right Fender Inner Panel Bolts (Qty 4) Tighten 25 N.m (18 lb ft)
3	Battery Tray Nut Tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
4	Surge Tank Nut Tighten 9 N.m (80 lb in)
5	Right Fender Assembly Procedure Transfer any necessary additional parts as needed.
