Install the tie rod

Version A: Install the tie rod
- Feed the tie rod (2).
- Provide counter support to special tool 2 459 457
using standard tool (1).
Make sure that the tools for counter supporting the rack and tightening the tie rod are the same length.
- Tighten the tie rod (2) with the appropriate special tool 0 493 653 (32 3 160) or 2 287 009 in the arrow direction.
TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATION

- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove the special tool 2 459 457 .
Version B: Install the tie rod
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
To avoid damage to the steering shaft and its bearing, the rack must be positioned in the steering gear as far as possible.

- Thread through the tie rod (1) by hand.
- Tighten tie rod (1) with the special tool 0 496 483 (32 3 220) .
