Preliminary work
- Refer to DETERMINING INSTALLED VARIANT OF THE STEERING GEAR .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT WHEEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
- Refer to REMOVING THE UNDERBODY PROTECTION OF THE STEERING GEAR .

Version A: Removing the bellows for the steering gear
- Cut diagonally across the ear hose clamp (1) using special tool 0 494 152 (32 1 260) .
- Remove the ear hose clamp (1).
- Release and remove the ribbon clip (1).
- If the bellows (2) is reused, it is imperative to thread through the special tool 2 460 533 on the tie rod.
- Pull down the bellows (2) and remove.
Version B: Removing the bellows for the steering gear
- Cut the ear hose clamp (1) with the special tool 0 494 152 (32 1 260) .
- Remove the ear hose clamp (1).
- Release and remove the ribbon clip (1).
- Pull down the bellows (2) from the steering gear and remove.
