Removing the clutch

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When the engine is stopped after the completion of trip, it may be necessary to run the electric fan. In rare cases, operation of the electric fan can last up to 11 min. This protects the components. In this case, replacing the electric fan will not remedy the problem!

Damage to the self-adjusting clutch (SAC).
Improper cleaning of the self-adjusting clutch may cause functional impairments on the adjustment unit and the damping springs.

- Do not clean the self-adjusting clutch, clutch disc or pressure plate using a high pressure cleaner or in a washer.
- Clean friction surface only.
- Block the flywheel using special tool 0 493 938 (11 9 260) .
- Insert the special tool 0 493 840 (21 2 180) into the self-adjusting clutch.
The locking hooks (1) of the special tool 0 493 840 (21 2 180) must engage into the recesses of the self-adjusting clutch.
- Press the special tool 0 493 840 (21 2 180) together on the handles (2) up to the stop and hold down.
Hand-tighten the knurled screws (1) at the same time.
The adjusting ring of self-adjusting clutch is now secured.
- Release screws (arrows) and remove clutch from flywheel.
