Installing both exhaust turbochargers for cylinders 1 to 6

Insert the exhaust turbocharger for the cylinders 1 to 3

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage of the electric wastegate valve controller .
Excessive force when removing and installing a jammed exhaust turbocharger may damage the electric wastegate valve controller .

Do not pull on the electrical wastegate valve controller or on the coupling rod.
Apply force only at the turbine housing and exhaust manifold.
Do not pull on the compressor housing.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When replacing the stud bolts, they must be coated with screw locking agent (Loctite 270).

Check the stud bolts (1) for tightness.

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Replace the sealing ring (1) of the oil feed line (2) for cylinders 1 to 3 with special tool 0 496 714 (00 9 030) .

Guide in and install the seal (1).
Make sure that the seal (1) is correctly installed in the marked area in the cylindrical pins.

Guide the exhaust turbocharger (1) into the trim strip (2) and install it.

Feed in and install the shifting strip (A).
The original BMW part number of the sliding rail (A) must be legible in the marked area.

Dry running due to insufficient initial filling of the exhaust turbocharger .
Damage to the exhaust turbocharger .

Be sure to do the initial filling when replacing the exhaust turbocharger.
Fill the exhaust turbocharger with the matching additive (see applicable BMW parts catalogue).

Connect and lock the connectors (1) and (2).
The connectors (1) must engage audibly.

Insert the exhaust turbocharger for the cylinders 4 to 6

Do not pull on the electrical wastegate valve controller or on the coupling rod.
Apply force only at the turbine housing and exhaust manifold.
Do not pull on the compressor housing.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When replacing the stud bolts, they must be coated with screw locking agent (Loctite 270).

Check the stud bolt (1) with commercially available torque for a firm fit.

The lock (2) must engage audibly.

Tighten down screw (1).
