Replacing The Rear Door

Preliminary work 

• Refer to REMOVE REAR DOOR TRIM .
• Refer to REMOVING THE OUTER WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP AT THE REAR DOOR .
• Refer to REMOVING THE COVER ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDOW FRAME AT THE REAR .
• Refer to REMOVE THE WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP FROM INNER REAR DOOR .
• Refer to REMOVING WINDOW FRAME TRIM OF REAR DOOR .
• Refer to REMOVING REAR DOOR WINDOW GLASS .
• Refer to REMOVING MODULE BRACKET ON THE REAR DOOR .
• Refer to REMOVE THE WINDOW FRAME TRIM OF THE REAR DOOR (C-PILLAR) .
• Refer to REMOVING THE RUBBER WINDOW SEAL FOR THE DOOR WINDOW GLASS .

Prerequisite 

New part is painted.

• Pull the lock (1) to the top and disconnect the plug connection (2).

• Unclip wiring harness (1) at marked positions (arrows).
• Loosen grommet (2).
• Feed the wiring harness (1) out of the door.

  • Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
  • Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.
• Release the domed cap nuts (1) and remove the door.

• Position new door on door hinges.

  Tighten spherical nuts (1).

  TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
  
  

  Rear door to door hinge
  Nut and domed ball
  	tightening torque  19 Nm

• Carefully close the door and check for bodywork contact, reposition door if necessary.
• Insert the wiring harness (1) into the rear door.
• Mount the grommet (2) and check for correct fit.
• Clip in wiring harness (1) at the marked positions.

• Connect the connectors (1) and press down the locking mechanism (2).

• Remount the seals (1) and (2).
• Remount the clips (3).

• Depending on equipment version:

  Renew 2 x sealing film (1) or remount 2 x expansion nuts (2).

  Parts:  Sealing film

  Bond the sealing film on the new door.

• Remount the clamps (1).

• Remount the expansion nut (2).

• Release the clips (1) on the seal and remount the seal (2).

• Clean bonding surface (1) using solvent cleaner R2.

• Renew the gap seal (1).

  Parts:  Gap seal

  Glue the gap seal on to the new door.
